With the improvement of life, more and more people use led sensor lights in their lives. Sometimes when you come to the corridor, kitchen or bed room, you may find the lights turn on automatically. Why is that? The secret is the PIR motion sensor light. So what's the principle of PIR motion sensor light and how to use it correctly?

The principle of PIR motion sensor light

When someone enters the sensing range, the PIR motion sensor light will automatically receive the infrared wave emitted by the human body, and the infrared wave will be sensed, and the light will be on. When the human body leaves, the infrared waves are not received and the lights are automatically turned off. This kind of sensor light without any switch is usually called as PIR motion sensor light.

As long as the human body does not leave the sensing area, the sensor switch will continue to be turned on, and after the person leaves, the delay will automatically turn off (usually time delay 30 seconds). When people come lights turn on, and lights turn off automatically after no motion, which is quite humanized and energy-saving.

Advantages of PIR motion sensor light

The advantage of the PIR motion sensor light is obvious. Firstly, As long as the person is in the sensing area, the switch can be kept on continuously. Once the person leaves, the time will be turned off, the function is quite human, and it is safe and energy-saving. Secondly, it is also different from voice control or other sensor lights, because it does not require sound to avoid the trouble of voice control noise, and since it is a switch that senses the body heat, thus avoiding the loss of invalid power. Lastly, And the probe of the PIR motion sensor light itself does not emit any type of radiation, and there is no problem of radiation.

Disadvantages of PIR motion sensor light:

1. It is easily interfered by various heat source sources.

2. When the ambient temperature is close to the human temperature, the detection and sensitivity will drop significantly, and sometimes even a short-term failure will occur.

3. The sensing effect will also be interfered by RF radiation.

4. Passive infrared penetrating power is relatively poor. When the infrared radiation of the human body is blocked by other objects, it is not easily accepted by the probe, and sometimes it cannot be induced.

All in all, PIR motion sensor light is widely used by people with so many advantages. Although there are some disadvantages, we can install it in our home. As long as it is not installed in some places such as large temperature changes, or where the flow of hot air such as a window is significantly disturbed, it can be used normally.
